		Meaning
		WAI - water, NUI - big, 0 - of, and MATA - could refer to a woman's name. Origins are disputed, but one commonly accepted translation refers to the woman who came over the Wainuiomata Hill to evade marauding tribes from north and south. Water could refer to tears streaming down faces, or pools of water.
