Bush
Cabins for Hire! |
|

Five
bush cabins are available for hire.
($8 per adult)
These are run by the department
of conservation and more information can be obtained from the
visitor's centre in the park.
Four of the five
cabins sleep 8 people, the other one sleeps 16.

Dogs
You may bring your
dogs here, however they must be on a lead. The many short tracks in
the park make for an enjoyable walk for both owners and their dogs,
but don't forget your dogs lead! |
|
|
Wildlife
Unfortunately, with
a park of this size, there is not enough room here to list all the
birds, animals and trees, however information on this is available
from the park's shop, or on the big boards in the little information
hut at the end carpark. You may also notice along some tracks there
are little information stands.

|
Swimming
There are a few
good places to swim at the park. Safe swimming holes can be found at
the end of Orongorongo Track, there is one off the recreational area
next to the second to last parking area (on your left going in),
although it may take some finding, and
there are many great spots for wading also.

|
Camping
Camping grounds are
available in Rimutaka Forest Park. When I asked, it was $4 per night
however it would pay to double check this with the shop. |

Hazards
An emergency phone
is available outside the shop. If you think there are any safety
hazards in a conservation area, call Safety Watch or the nearest
Department of Conservation office.
